Is Content Really KING?
A picture is worth a thousand words. Cut to today’s digital world, any enticing visual, compelling story, interesting infographic or “catchy” word is worth not just a thousand words but a high SEO rating. Google rewards good content and that is why, everybody stresses on “content strategy”. We have established the fact by now that SEO is the key to marketing success, but just how important is “content”?
The purpose of online search is to find relevant and accurate information. As per statistics, there are about 40,000 search queries hit every second. Can you imagine the depth of data out there and brands competing for high ranking? If your name needs to pop-up in the first few places, you have to play your best “content” game. This means you must know your audience, produce and post content that captivates their attention (understand what they want to see) and subsequently increases your sales & brand affinity. SEO rich, high quality content is the call of the digital era!
Content is your New-Age Marketing Strategy
First and foremost, content marketing is a strategic approach to achieve desired sales. Anything posted on any media – print, digital, offline, on-ground – has but one objective – to drive effective consumer engagement. Now, there are only so many Social Media platforms; Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. and millions of readers worldwide.
What viewers need is something that interests them, engages them and to some extent compels them to be associated with the brand. Meaning, it is futile unless the post fails to elicit some action from the consumer. So, it is only obvious that your content is what they are looking for in exchange for their valuable time. For any business, a clear sense of what goals should be accomplished by “content” needs to be well understood and executed to drive the profit graph up, up and only up. While encouraging customer engagement, it’s wise to keep in mind that content need not always be on your brand, on your product or service. Compelling content strategy is one which keeps in mind the industry at large and addresses issues of general interest to the reader which subtly relates back to the brand.
First Impression is a Lasting Impression
A survey recently suggested that 7 out of 10 customers prefer to learn about companies/brands via an article or blog, rather than just a post. Now, this may apply for industries, tech corporations but for artists, entertainment, retail and hospitality sectors, this may not always stand true. So, for such demography of viewers, vlogs, videos and ad posts are of great help.
A lot of consumers read company blogs on regular basis, that’s why you see whether it’s a chemical plant or a biscuit manufacturing unit, they all are heavy on blogs! Gone are the days of “just posting”. Blogs aren’t just product information in a brochure-like manner; they are interesting articles, of high readable quality, which narrate a story the way the consumer would prefer to read. Blogs connect much better and faster with the reader, thereby highly increasing the chance to engage in some action. It’s all about the positive vibe with customers on their first impression. So make sure it is worthwhile, since you won’t get a second chance to make a good first impression. Don’t we all know that!
Keep Updating, Keep Living
It’s not enough to have a website, blog, social media accounts and not post regularly. It gives customers/viewers a feeling that you aren’t really there. Digital world is inescapable. Your customers are what make your brand, their time and investment is what drives your popularity. So why not give them something in return? If you don’t resurface time and again, chances are they will move on to someone else. Fresh, updated content is the key to staying in the eyes of the customers. The look, feel, tone and writing style should be something that make people say “hey they’re just like me”. There are three billion people and only if you want to shut down your business, stay static all you want.
People use their smartphones to buy vegetables, insurance policies, compare prices of houses and the most popular activity, shopping! It’s like they have a huge appetite for good information. Also, they make good judgment within seconds, if they want to engage in your brand by just looking at your website, social media post or even a printed ad. If the content is compelling, they will instantly engage with you. If your content isn’t compelling enough, remember, there are millions out there waiting to woo your customers from you. Bringing back a dissatisfied bunch is a lot more difficult than wooing them right the first time. So, get it content-right the first time and stick to the habit of churning out posts or articles interesting enough for your readers and consumers to stick to your posts.
The ruling monarch of your consumers’ mind is those all-important stories, the visuals and any other means of communication, which touches their hearts and the right nerve. Those 3 magical word ruling the modern era, most certainly is Content is KING!
